Yes, Las Vegas has a hedonistic image – and rightly so. But, head to the right places, and you can make it a great family destination too. Here are some of the city’s glitzy attractions that are suitable for both adults and kids. (Our featured image is by Allie_Caulfield)

Stop 1:

Kick things off with the epic Fall of Atlantis show at The Forum Shops in Caesars Palace. The fiery (literally – the special effects include pyrotechnics and splashing water) drama sees Gods battling one another for Atlantis’ throne. The animatronics show takes place on the hour, every hour.

Stop 2:

Hop into a taxi from Caesars Palace and head to Circus Circus. Its daily circus performances on its Midway Stage have made the hotel a family favourite for decades. From 11am see trapeze, slack wire and a variety of other artists.

Stop 3:

Next, check out the rides at Adventuredome, the hotel’s impressive indoor amusement park. If you thought your adrenaline was flowing at the sight of the trapeze artists … well … let’s just say the Canyon Blaster double-loop, double-corkscrew roller coaster will get your heart pumping.

Stop 4:

Then head on over to GameWorks. Their brand new Vegas location – Town Square, near McCarran Airport – is set to open in the coming months (check the Facebook page for updates). Like the old joint, there’s sure to be hundreds of arcade games, which will keep the kids amused while you catch your breath over a refreshing drink at the in-house bar.

Stop 5:

Once you’re refreshed and the kids are done competing, take a taxi to The Mirage to watch the outdoor volcano eruption. The ballet of fireballs erupts on the hour, every hour, 7pm to 11pm.

Stop 6:

For dinner, travel down the street (and back in time) to Excalibur (5 minutes away by taxi). The Tournament of Kings dinner show resurrects medieval England, in cartoonish manner. While you feast on your three-course meal, knights will joust, maidens will dance and armies get ready to invade in the arena before you. It’s cheesy, yes, but this is a quintessential Vegas family experience.
