Holidaymakers keen to soak up the atmosphere of this year’s Olympics, without compromising their travel plans will welcome the news that BA has launched a 12-day post-Games summer sale.

Ending on July 10, but valid for travel after September 10, travellers can benefit from savings of up to 25 per cent on flights and holiday packages.

The sale covers more than 80 worldwide destinations and includes holidays to the USA, fly-drive packages, city breaks, holidays to the Caribbean and reduced prices on economy and premium economy flights.

For stays on the continent travellers can choose from fly-drive packages to Nice, including flights from London Gatwick and car hire for seven nights.

Also on offer are two-night holidays to Rome, staying at the 3-star Scheppers Hotel with return flights from Heathrow. This is in addition to two-night city breaks in Prague, staying at the 4-star Duo Hotel.

Further afield there are beach breaks to the Caribbean, including seven nights at the three-star Butterfly Beach Hotel with return flights from Gatwick.

Those looking to retreat to a truly tropical location can try a seven-night stay in Mauritius, including half-board accommodation at the three-star Coin de Mire Hotel with return flights from Gatwick.

Additional deals include a three-night stay in Dubai at the 3.5-star Holiday Inn Express, with return flights from Heathrow and accommodation with breakfast.

In the US, holidaymakers can enjoy the charms of New England with a seven night fly-drive holiday in Boston with flights and car hire.

Families planning a visit to Disneyland can stay at the 3-star Ramada Gateway, with return flights from Gatwick. For a taste of the Big Apple there are three-night city breaks in New York, staying at the three-star Park South Hotel.

Deals on flights include up to 25 per cent off a number of routes including Tokyo, Johannesburg, Baltimore and the new London Gatwick to Las Vegas route from October 29.
