BMI is preparing for the ski season this year by offering travellers the chance to enjoy their favourite winter pastime in an unusual destination.

Forget France and avoid the Alps as this year’s top ski destinations include Lebanon, Morocco and Scotland, according to BMI.

One of the benefits of heading to any of these destinations is that it could help you to avoid the manic ski season crowds, leaving you to enjoy the clear peaks and snow-capped hills.

The Mzaar Ski Resort in Lebanon is situated in the middle of Mount Lebanon, located close to the city of Beirut. Labelled as the “most popular and best serviced ski resort in Lebanon”, BMI promotes it as a great way to enjoy both sunshine and skiing this winter.

The resort features 42 trails and more than 80km of ski tracks, ideal for beginners and those at a more advanced level.

Holidaymakers also have the opportunity to explore Beirut and the mountain landscape of Lebanon.

BMI flies direct from London Heathrow to Beirut twice daily on Monday, Thursday and Sunday, with a daily service operating on all other days.

Morocco has also been hailed by BMI as an attractive skiing destination. Just south of Marrakech is the ski resort of Oukaimeden. Located in the Atlas Mountains, Oukaimeden is Africa’s highest skiing resort. The spectacular ski village sits at a height of 2,600m and the chairlift rises to 3,258m. BMI flies direct from London Heathrow to Marrakesh up to five times a week.

Skiers looking for another unusual ski destination could also head to Aberdeen. BMI also offers flight deals direct from London Heathrow to Aberdeen every day, with six daily flights (Monday to Friday), and four at the weekend.

Scotland offers snow which could match areas across Europe for skiing, and the Lecht 2090 is based 2,090 feet (645m) above sea level in the Eastern Cairngorms. It is easily accessible from Aberdeen and ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
