While New Year festivities are usually marked by cracking open a bottle of Champagne in front of Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny, 2012 presents the perfect opportunity to break out of the box and bring in the New Year away from British shores.

Recent research from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has shown that 4.25 million Brits are planning to head overseas for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Keycamp is offering travellers the chance to do just this, with a New Year’s getaway with a difference at the Vilanova Park, just a 30-minute drive from Barcelona’s city centre, for just £165 per party.

The Catalonian capital boasts a mild winter climate, stunning Gaudi architecture, the famous Las Ramblas, museums, beautiful municipal parks and a great deal more.

After filling up on a delicious array of tapas, travellers can head off to join locals for New Year celebrations at the Plaça Catalunya, a large square in central Barcelona, and take part in the Spanish tradition of swallowing a dozen grapes – one for each chime of the clock – to ensure that 2013 is a particularly lucky year.

In order to unwind after all the chaos of New Year’s Eve, families can head back to Vilanova Park for some much-needed rest and relaxation. The Park is set in 40 hectares of gardens and boasts a spa with hot tub, hammam and sauna.

Visitors who want to try something a little more active can go for a swim in the heated indoor on-site pool or try out activities such as badminton, basketball and tennis. Away from the Park there is also the nearby Port Aventura theme park and Barcelona Zoo.

A five-night family holiday starting on December 29 2012 at Vilanova Park, staying in a two-bedroom Villanova mobile home (sleeping up to four adults and two children) with decking, will cost from just £165 per party, accommodation only.

Ferry crossings and fly-drive packages are available at a supplement. To book a New Year getaway visit keycamp.co.uk.
