Cheapflights is supporting efforts by IMPACT, the international charity that works to prevent and treat disability, in its relief efforts in Nepal.

Following the devastating earthquake at the end of April, more than 7,000 people have died, thousands injured and hundreds of thousands left homeless.

IMPACT Nepal, one of the charity’s foundations, operates out of Kathmandu and is providing emergency relief to those affected.

Within hours of the earthquake the IMPACT team mobilised supplies in the Nepalese capital and liaised with IMPACT partners in India and Bangladesh to bring in tents, blankets and medicines.

From Dhuwakot in Dhading District, close to the earthquake’s epicentre, IMPACT Nepal has distributed tents, blankets, food and means of water purification to more than 1,200 families. Its mobile operating tent acted as a field hospital and volunteer doctors have treated more than 500 injured men, women and children so far.

IMPACT Nepal is now preparing to reach families in Gothpani, Kavrepalanchok District and preparing for reconstruction and rebuilding homes.

Cheapflights has supported IMPACT for more than a decade and if you would like to keep up with the charity’s work in Nepal, please visit its Facebook page.
