Ibiza is quite rightly well-known for its amazing nightlife and clubbing clientele but there’s so much more to this beautiful island than that. With very reasonable flights to Ibiza available, it is the ideal location for people who want a holiday in the sun which will keep them entertained by day as well as by night.

A perfect example of Ibiza’s diversity is the recent recognition it received for its diving opportunities, which may come as a surprise to some. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) named it Europe’s number one diving location. If you fancy having a go at diving on this Balearic island, try the Punta Dive and Vellmari Europe centres, as these were given special mention by PADI. Popular diving destinations in Ibiza include the Posidonia seabed, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and the fascinating Don Pedro, a cargo ship which sunk in 2007 and has recently been opened up for recreational divers.

There’s plenty more for energetic types to do too and activities such as cycling, kayaking, hiking and water sports are available throughout Ibiza. These can offer a great way to see more of the island and discover the traditional Ibiza that is often just a stone’s throw from tourist hotspots and clubs.

If you prefer something a little less high energy, you can really pamper yourself during your Ibiza break by staying in a spa hotel or treating yourself to a day of indulgence. Try Atzaró, a Balinese spa on the island. Enjoy the sun on the pool deck or sit in the hot tub before beautifying yourself with one of the many treatments on offer.

If you want peace and quiet in your accommodation, San Miguel is a good place to stay. The resort is quieter than San Antonio Bay and still has its own lovely sandy beach. It’s far enough from the main drag to be secluded and intimate but accessible enough that you can get in on the action when you want to. Be sure not to miss San Miguel’s weekly craft market to pick up souvenirs for home or a few trinkets for yourself.

Despite its glossy clubby reputation, Ibiza is steeped in history and Ibiza Old Town is a must-visit part of the island. It’s recognised as a World Heritage Site and is the perfect place to while away a day, wandering down its cobbled streets and winding lanes, stopping off at the little stalls and markets along the way.

After a relaxing day, check out what Ibiza’s is most famous for – its nightlife. As well as a hotbed of clubs and bars, there’s something to suit you even if you’re usually on your way to bed as the clubbers get ready to go out. There’s no more relaxing way to spend an evening than in one of the numerous outdoor cafes watching the sun go down. Alternatively, enjoy an evening in a traditional restaurant, sharing seafood and local tapas as you chat into the night.
Ibiza isn’t just for the young, free and single – there’s plenty for families too. Es Cana is a perfect beach for family fun and Santa Eulalia is an ideal spot too, with plenty of family-friendly activities and food outlets to suit young and old alike.
