Though it doesn’t open until February 1st, we recently got a sneak peak (geddit? *Chuckle*) at The View from The Shard (it provided the featured image, above, too. Brett Ackroyd took the rest of the fantastic pictures in this blog).

At the time of our visit, the 72nd floor – the top habitable floor with outside viewing – was still being fitted out. Neither the dedicated entrance to the attraction, nor the exhibit visitors are set to see before being taken to the top were ready for viewing, either.

But we were able to have a look around (literally and figuratively) the next best thing – the 69th floor.

We took some images to give you a sense of the view you get when stood 800 ft above London. Sadly the images aren’t great – we had to shoot through glass and the weather was overcast, making lighting conditions terrible for photos. Which just goes to show, the overall quality of experience is hugely dependant on the weather and time of day – something to consider when it comes to planning your own visit.

How does The Shard compare with the other great urban viewing platforms around the world? We have some expert hints and tips if you’re planning a visit too!
