Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson was happy to don a kilt for the debut of the Edinburgh service and show the world just what he had under it.

Luckily, the entrepreneur didn’t the traditional Scottish custom of wearing nothing a under a kilt, instead opting for a pair of pristine, whiter than white briefs cheekily emblazoned with the words ‘stiff competition’.

“I am at least half-Scottish – my grandparents were Scottish and my wife is Glaswegian,” Sir Richard said.

“Unfortunately, none of them taught me how to put a kilt on right. Hopefully I got it right this time,” he added.

Little Red will offer a total of 26 daily flights from London Heathrow and Manchester, Edinburgh and Aberdeen comprising of four daily round-trips to Manchester, six daily round-trips to Edinburgh and three daily round-trips to Aberdeen.

“Virgin Atlantic has been on an incredible journey since we started with a single plane 29 years ago,” Sir Richard added.

“Little Red represents the next step on that journey as we go head to head with British Airways to provide domestic flights that deliver Virgin Atlantic’s rock and roll spirit as well as real value for money.”

Little Red flights will operate to and from Heathrow Terminal 1 and early morning flights will allow business travellers to arrive in time to attend morning meetings in the above listed cities.

Passengers will be able to enjoy a range of in-flight snacks and drinks as a result of the creation of a series of exclusive brand partnerships – including Scotland’s favourite drink, Irn-Bru.
