The weather is also more pleasant around September and October, with temperatures in the high 20°C.
Low season in Alabama falls between December and March, which is when savvy savers will be able to find the best price on travel due to the festive season. It will also be the best time to barter with hotel prices, as many will have plenty of empty rooms available.

Situated in Madison County in the central part of the far northern area of Alabama, Huntsville is the second largest metropolitan area in the State. The city was the first ever incorporated town in Alabama in 1811, and since then become the home to some of the South’s most idyllic attractions. As recently as 2010, the city was added to the “America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations” list set out by The National Trust for Historic Preservation. Some of the most exciting local attractions include NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, Land Trust of North Alabama, and Monte Santo State Park. Much of the city’s history can still be seen in many places, whether in historical areas of central Huntsville, or in the many museums and cultural centres. Huntsville will appeal to a wide variety of visitors, whether they appreciate the historical aspect and ties to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, or have come for the huge shopping and entertainment districts. There are plenty of shopping opportunities, restaurants, and quirky boutiques throughout the city for visitors to enjoy an authentic feel of the South. Many attractions are located both in the city centre and the surrounding areas. For those with an interest in cosmos, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center has many artefacts, including personal items of former astronauts as well as rockets and shuttles. The Madison County Nature Trail-Green Mountain will appeal to the adventurous types with its many trails and picnic spots for couples and families. Shoppers will enjoy the Bridge Street Town Centre, full of various stores and specialist boutiques.
The city has an extensive transport network, including the Huntsville Shuttle, bicycle paths, and several railroads. A tram system operates within the inner city, and makes stops around the major shopping areas. Several taxi services also operate throughout the area.
Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is the closest international airport to Huntsville, and both are connected via the I-65. There are several taxi firms and shuttle services which offer transport for a fixed price. Car rentals are also available from section 1B of the parking area.
