Peak season:
Book cheap flights to Krakow in the south of Poland and visit the country’s former royal capital and spiritual heart. Krakow is a centre for science, learning and religion and its Old Town is studded with Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance buildings. The main market square (Rynek Glowny) is one of the finest medieval squares you find in Europe. Many people take flights to Krakow to visit Auschwitz, the base site of a large network of concentration camps run by the Nazis in WWII. Tours leave from Krakow journeying two hours west to Oswiecim. Auschwitz is a sobering sight but one of the cities main drawcards. The tourism season in Krakow runs from April to October and peak season is the middle of summer. It is a good idea to book your flights to Krakow in advance during peak season to ensure the best price and availability.
Off season:
Cold winters in Krakow invariably mean fewer tourists and also when more cheap flights to Krakow become available. If you’re after snow then you’ll find it in Krakow, usually snow-clad from mid-December to mid-March. It is a popular destination for skiers as it is within a short drive to several ski resorts.

Formerly known as Krakow-Balice, the airport’s name was changed to John Paul II International Airport (KRK) in 1995 in honour of Pope John Paul II, who lived in the city for many years. Located in the village of Balice, approximately 11km (6.8 miles) west of Krakow, the airport is Poland’s second-busiest hub.
Flights to John Paul II International Airport arrive from major European cities such London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Prague, Berlin, Munich, Warsaw, Vienna, Helsinki, Alicante and Paris.
In spite of recent expansions, John Paul II struggles to handle the number of passengers transiting the facility each year. Queues are often extremely long and operations tend to be chaotic. Child care facilities, restaurants and shops are minimal. Don’t let this dissuade you from travelling to Crakow, though, as the city itself is full of charm and fascinating historical attractions.
