British Airways was named Best Airline at the 2007 Business Traveller Awards ceremony, which took place at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel on Monday (September 17).

The award built on the British national airline’s success at last year’s awards, where it was also chosen as the world’s best carrier.

BA also picked up the accolades for Best Short-Haul Carrier, Best Frequent Flyer Programme and Best Economy Class, and was runner-up in the Best First Class, Best Business Class and Best Premium Economy Class categories.

Virgin Atlantic won the Best Business Class and Best Premium Economy Class prizes, while Singapore Airlines took home the gong for Best First Class, as well as Best Cabin Staff.

In terms of budget carriers, it was easyJet that beat Ryanair, Air Berlin and Flybe to the title of Best Low-Cost Airline. easyJet also won the prize last year.

Heathrow Airport did not fare well, however, dropping out of the top five in the Best Airport in the World category. That award went to Singapore Changi Airport, which scooped the prize for the 20th year in a row.

The awards are the result of a reader survey that was compiled between April and June, 2007. Business Traveller magazine was founded in 1976 and publishes nine editions around the world.
