So when it was announced that Goldenballs himself would be making a move to French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), a surge in interest for all things Parisian was  inevitable.

According to one holiday booking website, that’s exactly what has happened. As Becks prepares for his possible debut this weekend, flight bookings to Paris have apparently soared.

Travel website lastminute.com has revealed that bookings for flights to the French capital have shot up by 34 per cent compared to last month.

Given that Becks hasn’t played on English soil since 2009, it’s little wonder that many Brits are eager to make the quick trip across the Channel to catch a glimpse of him in action.

It was also revealed that hotels in the Paris Saint-Germain area have seen a 23 per cent increase in bookings this month, compared to the same time last year.

Fans hoping to see Beckham’s fancy footwork in action could be disappointed, as the man himself admits that he is still off the pace compared to his team mates.

PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti recently hinted that Becks could make his debut this weekend, but any fans in Paris will have to watch on TV – the game is away to eastern France team Sochaux-Montbéliard.

But if you’re booked on the next flight to Paris, fear not! Becks will be making his training ground debut at the Camp des Loges this afternoon. If you’re not booked on the next flight to Paris, what on Earth are you waiting for?

“David Beckham certainly strikes a chord in the hearts of the British public as fans snap up last-minute flights to catch a glimpse of Goldenballs and his fancy footwork,” said Mark Maddock, Managing Director at lastminute.com.
