Budapest Ferihegy International Airport’s main terminal reopened last night (January 25) after six days of closure due to a union strike.

Employees of Hungary’s main international airport went on strike last Monday (January 19) over pay disagreements, which led to the closure of terminal one and passengers facing severe delays arriving and departing the airport.

Specifically, the unions have been employing a “rolling strike”, which means that they could continue the protest at short notice in the foreseeable future.

Domokos Szollar, spokesman for Ferihegy International Airport, sounded cautious when announcing the reopening of the terminal.

He said: “From Sunday, terminal one will be open until another strike occurs. If this happens then we will review the situation once again.”
