Search flights to New York

Among North American city break destinations, New York City is undoubtedly one of the most popular. Majestic metropolis NYC is the archetypical big city, cosmopolitan and buzzing with activity. Birthdays, anniversaries and occasions such as Valentine’s Day or Christmas are among times that travellers decide to book cheap transatlantic New York flights and spoil themselves or their loved ones with the savings made on airfare.

Those who book flights to New York are sure to enjoy its sightseeing potential, with a dazzling array of iconic landmarks all around, as well as world class museums, galleries and other cultural offerings. Visitors taking city breaks in New York also benefit from the Big Apple’s outstanding nightlife and variety of restaurants, which draw from the incredible cultural diversity for which the city has been long famed.

The Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Ground Zero and Central Park are among sites that should not be missed in NY. Those on a cultural city break will be sure to enjoy the Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art (MoMa), Forbes Galleries, American Museum of Natural History, Asia Society and National Jazz Museum – all of which are based within Manhattan, New York’s skyscraper-filled and sophisticated central borough.

If visiting the ‘city that never sleeps’ on a city shopping break, you will find the city’s retail opportunities as impressive as its cultural institutions. Huge, world-renowned department stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s and the USA’s oldest toyshop FAO Schwarz are only a few places for spending sprees. The day after Thanksgiving in November, Black Friday, is an excellent time to shop in NYC, with many retailers offering bargain-filled sales and opening early to continue them late into the night.

Coinciding your trip with one-off or infrequent events such as festivals is also an excellent way to take a New York City break. The St Patrick’s Day Parade, Chinese New Year, Easter Parade, Columbus Day Parade, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are just a few annual occasions when New Yorkers take to the streets for revelry.

Meanwhile for music lovers, Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Gardens are two of the city’s foremost venues, drawing stars from far and wide across all manner of genres. Theatre fans in NYC are spoiled for choice too. Broadway plays host to countless celebrated shows, from the latest plays to long-running musical productions.
