With Wills and Kate – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge –  heading off to Canada on their first royal tour as a married couple, why not check out what the country has to offer at the temporary Experience Canada pavilion in London.

Come 1 July, the largest Canada Day celebration to take place outside Canada will be kicking off in London’s Trafalgar Square. Alongside a bevy of entertainment options for visitors including live music from local Canadian bands and performances from Inuit Throat singers, Canada Day will also shine a spotlight on the country’s highlights.

The Experience Canada pavilion will showcase the very best of Canada, from the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver to the rugged Rocky mountains, the Calgary stampede – known as the “greatest outdoor show on earth” – and the delights of Toronto’s buzzing nightlife.

Outdoorsy types will love Canada’s range of wholesome holiday activities, such as bear watching, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing and kayaking.

A royal source told the Daily Mail that Wills and Kate’s trip was going to allow them to “get to know Canada better.”

“The duchess’s late grandfather was stationed near Calgary as a trainee bomber pilot and therefore the country is very much part of her own family’s story too even though this will be her first visit to the country,” the source said.

“The trip is designed to show them the diversity and vibrancy of Canada and its people, visiting provinces and territories that aren’t so often visited by the Royal Family. There will be both traditional and formal elements and more informal elements appropriate to their age and interests,” they added.

The royal twosome will kick off their trip with a visit to Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, where the famous book, Anne of Green Gables, was set.
