Each Friday, we’re listing 5 Tweeps we think will satisfy your hankering for travel inspiration and wisdom. In this, our 11th instalment, we’re sharing the feeds that will help you make the most of your next trip to Cape Town.

Remember, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Sydney have all received the Cheapflights #FollowFriday treatment – be sure to check them out if you haven’t already.

@CapeTown If you’re a complete Cape Town novice this feed’s the place to start. Though this self-proclaimed free-spirited Capetonian has a rather unhealthy obsession with the weather, many of the tweets she curates provide useful insight into The Mother City zeitgeist. The feed is building a community of Cape Town-based Tweeps who are dedicated to crowdsourcing help for one another. It’s a great project. If you follow you’ll reap the rewards of all their good work.

@FoodBlogCT The counterpart Twitter feed to the excellent Food Blog Cape Town website not only keeps you up to date on the site’s latest articles but also drops some interesting food facts.

@CapeTownsBest We’re not really sure if this feed is made by a map app company (Schmap) or simply authored by a huge fan of said app. What we do know is it has plenty of useful recommendations for places to eat and drink. Just make sure you’re prepared to filter a lot of nonsense first.

@capeadvice Cape Advice is a sister project to @CapeTown. It aims to provide crowdsourced answers to every conceivable Cape Town-oriented question. Before your trip, why not put the community to the test by asking for a restaurant or hotel recommendation.

@CapeCalendar This counterpart feed to WhatUpCapeTown.com is a great way to discover events varying from live music shows to markets, all the way through horse riding tours and wine tastings. They also produce tweets as reminders of upcoming events, which is really helpful for people who sometimes forget those all important dates and times in their calendars – not that we would know anything about that of course.
