Air connections from the UK to Italy are improving dramatically with the launch of a host of new flights this year.

HomesWorldwide.com reports that six airlines are set to improve links to the country, which has long been a favourite with British tourists.

Low-cost airlines Ryanair, bmibaby and Jet2.com are all enhancing their links, with the former having introduced a link between Nottingham and Rimini three times a week, as well as a twice weekly route from Dublin to Trapani in Sicily in March.

Jet2.com has launched direct flights from Belfast and Edinburgh to Milan-Bergamo and will begin flying from Manchester to Venice on May 19. Bmibaby’s new route between Birmingham and Rome will also begin in May.

EasyJet too will begin operating an Edinburgh to Milan service on May 21, and Gatwick to Palermo on June 18. It has already begun flying direct from Gatwick to Pisa (on April 3).

British Airways is also enhancing its Italian offerings, by re-introducing flights from London to Calgari, Catania and Bari. It is also adding two more flights from London to Rome-Fiumicino.
