Low-cost airline Monarch has just made Barcelona far more accessible with the launch of 11 new flights a week from London Gatwick to the Spanish city.

Kicking off from 21 October this year, the airline will fly to Barcelona once a day, with this tally rising to 11 flights each week from 30 October 2011 onwards. The new routes take the total number of different destinations covered by Monarch from Gatwick to 13.

According to Kevin George, managing director of Monarch, Barcelona is up there on UK travellers’ favourite holiday spots list and is also hugely popular for short breaks.

Mr George said, “Barcelona attracts a broad mix of visitors for business, city breaks and leisure for beach goers. All of these customers will appreciate the convenience and flexibility of up to 11 flights per week in addition to Monarch’s fantastic value fares and innovative build your own class service.”

As well as expanding its offerings at London Gatwick Airport, Monarch also flies to many holiday hotspot destinations including Greece, Egypt, Cyprus and Turkey from Birmingham, London Luton and Manchester.
