London Oxford Airport has announced the launch of two new flights to Dublin and New York, departing this December.

The special one-off services will enable passengers to fly from Oxford to either Dublin, or New York (via Dublin). They will depart on Wednesday, 7December, and return on Monday, 12 December.

The packages have been organised by local Oxford tour operator World of Experience Tours in conjunction with CityJet and Aer Lingus. The Oxford to Dublin leg of the trip will be flown in a 95-passenger Avro RJ85 regional jet of Air France carrier, CityJet.

US-bound passengers will make the transfer at Dublin’s brand new state-of-the-art Terminal 2, before boarding a wide-bodied Aer Lingus flight for the onward journey to New York’s JFK International Airport.

Flight-only prices (Oxford to New York JFK return), are on sale from £795 per person including all taxes. Upgrades to Aer Lingus Business Class (Dublin-JFK-Dublin) can also be purchased, subject to availability. Oxford to Dublin flights are available from £295 per person, including all taxes.

“It has long been our wish to offer flights to the USA and this charter route – ideally timed for Christmas shopping – is a great start, and we hope this will be the beginning of more transatlantic services, for which there is definitely demand from the Thames Valley area,” said David Surley, Head of Route Development at London Oxford Airport.

London Oxford Airport is wholly owned by the Reuben Brothers, investors in private equity and real estate in the UK and Europe. At 64km (40 miles) from Greater London, down the M40 motorway (London’s least congested motorway) Oxford is seen by many travellers as a viable alternative to London.

Chiltern Railways is also reported to be committed to the creation of a new rail link connecting Oxford and Marylebone Station, via a new station for Kidlington (Oxford Airport’s location). Train services are expected to take just 58 minutes.  Visit www.londonoxfordairport.com for more.
