The new subsidiary airline from British Airways, OpenSkies (see related Cheapflights story), has chosen a “hybrid reservations system” that will provide travellers with a ‘next-generation’ booking service.

Radixx, the winner of the Best Technology Provider at the World Low Cost Airlines Congress in 2007, has been picked to provide a system that allows passengers to buy tickets online, by phone or through a travel agent.

OpenSkies, which will operate flights between continental Europe and the US, will be listed on the global distribution systems with a BA code.

Ron Peri, chief executive of Radixx, said: “We’re doing something for OpenSkies that has never been done before in the airline industry.

“We’ve worked to develop a hybrid reservations system that allows OpenSkies to distribute directly via its website and call center with a ticketless system, but also through travel agents via the BA codeshare and using traditional travel agency fulfilment processes.”

Peri added: “We’re thrilled to equip OpenSkies with this cutting-edge technology.”
