Delayed, missing or damaged luggage
Compensation for baggage

Contact

Qatar Airways can be contacted using the numbers found here.

Delayed, missing or damaged luggage

In the event that you arrive at your destination without your checked baggage, in most cases the delayed baggage is located within 24 hours and can be delivered to your home, office or hotel if local customs regulations permit. In case you have incurred some expenses due to the late delivery of your baggage, Qatar will compensate by reimbursing your reasonable and necessary expense.

In the event that baggage is considered to be lost then the compensation will be in accordance with the Montreal Convention, where applicable.

If, on arrival, you find that your baggage has been damaged, you will need to file a damaged baggage report at the Qatar Airways baggage services desk before leaving the airport. If you have left the airport without reporting, you can notify the airline about your damaged bag or any other mishandling of your baggage online. If you have already reported your mishandled baggage, you can also use the online tool ‘My baggage’ to track the status of your claim by entering the file reference number that was provided to you.

Note that the acceptance of baggage without complaint at the time of delivery is prima facie evidence that the baggage has been delivered in good condition and in accordance with the conditions of the airline’s contract. If you find that your baggage has been damaged, you must submit a written claim within seven days from the date of retrieval of the baggage.

Compensation for baggage

Where the Montreal Convention applies, the maximum liability is limited to the local currency equivalent of £1,021 per passenger for loss, damage or delay of checked and unchecked baggage. Otherwise Qatar Airline’s liability is limited to £13 per kilogram. In the case of damage to unchecked baggage, their liability is limited to £268 or equivalent in local currency or per passenger.
