Car hire company Europcar has launched special offers for rugby fans visiting New Zealand during the tournament.

Now well into the second week of matches and with all the home nations still in with a shout of qualifying through to the quarter final stages, the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand is beginning to hot up. Over the course of the competition – where 48 matches will be played in 24 cities across New Zealand – 95,000 visitors are expected to visit the country.

Europcar is offering a selection of car hire offers to fans. These offers include discounted rates for those hiring a car for seven days or more, with rates starting from NZD$72 (£35.50) per day. Included in the price is a free GPS unit, as well as a free additional driver. Additional offers include 25 per cent off when hiring a car for five days or more.

Europcar has 23 locations in New Zealand, including: Auckland, Blenheim, Cambridge, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth, Hamilton, Napier, Nelson, Picton, Queenstown, Rotorua, and Wellington. The existing offers are only available for car rental pickups until the 31October. Check at time of booking for additional terms and conditions that may apply.

If you are looking for another car hire deal available for visiting New Zealand, Europcar’s car hire rival Hertz is currently running a global car-hire sale until 23September, 2011.

The car-hire discounts, range from 15, 20 or 33 per cent depending on the location. Countries where it is possible to receive up to 33 per cent car hire discounts include Germany, Belgium, Ireland, France, Greece, Wales, Norway, Spain, Denmark and Austria. A 20 per cent discount is available for New Zealand and is valid for car rentals picked up by 15December 2011.  The special rates for the six-continent sale can be obtained by quoting “CDP: 748100” when booking online.
