Our love affair with reality TV is just as strong as our love of nabbing a travel bargain. And when our favourite shows feature mouthwateringly gorgeous travel destinations we’re in heaven.
We’ve crunched the numbers at Cheapflights.co.uk and discovered that sun-soaked holiday destinations such as Mykonos, Cannes, Barcelona and Miami, all of which featured recently on X Factor, Made in Chelsea and Geordie Shore, have soared in popularity. Here are our favourite images of our new favourite places:
Mykonos was the biggest climber – by 89 per cent – following the airing of the X Factor edition that saw Tulisa and her wannabes stay on the Greek island.
Cannes, much loved by the cast of Made in Chelsea, was the second-highest riser at 39 per cent. This follows the airing of that South of France episode on 12 June (Caggie’s 22nd birthday in case you missed it).
X Factor made third place. Barcelona (Louis Walsh’s choice) and Miami (Kelly Rowland’s) were tied with rises of 5 per cent each.
Geordie Shore’s patronage of Magaluf, Majorca, gave user searches a boost of 4 per cent to date, since the show aired its Magaluf Madness episode on 23 August 2011.
Gary Barlow’s destination, Los Angeles, is seeing a small rise of 1 per cent but we’re expecting it to rise more as the UK slips into winter greyness and travellers go in search of sun.
