It was weird that we had to check after security and go to a corral which had no bathroom or other services about an hour before boarding. Had to check out of the corral to leave and check back in.

Located in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles, Burbank is a destination that many may not realize they know. After all, Burbank is home to the headquarters for media giants like Disney and Warner Bros., and many of television’s beloved shows are taped in this very city.
It would make sense, then, that a trip to Burbank includes plenty of Hollywood-themed activities. Visitors can get a taste of the good life by joining a live studio audience for a TV show taping, or they can take a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio.
There’s plenty to do beyond enjoying the glitz and glamor of Hollywood’s timeless allure, too. Burbank is home to the Martial Arts History Museum, a world first and a tribute to this Asian addition to American culture. Nearby, the mammoth Griffith Park, with its stunning observatory, museums and famed hike to the Hollywood sign, is an easy way to spend a day. Hollywood itself is a short drive from Burbank, where visitors can spend a day wandering Sunset Boulevard and tracing rock and roll history at places like the Sunset Marquis and Whisky a Go Go.
Los Angeles proper, with its dizzying array of offerings, is about a 20-minute drive from Burbank, while the sands of California’s beaches are about a 45-minute drive. All in all, Burbank puts visitors in a prime position to explore all the L.A. has to offer.
Public transportation in Burbank is offered through a local bus system. The local bus also connects to other public transportation networks throughout Los Angeles. However, it’s important to keep in mind that Los Angeles is best accessed by driving, usually through hiring a car.
Burbank has its own airport: Bob Hope Airport (BUR), about six miles from the city. The airport is the only one in the L.A. area with direct access to the local train system with its own station. Buses and Amtrak also link up to Bob Hope Airport, and shuttles and taxis are available for hire. Car hire is also available through numerous companies. A larger airport, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), is about 30 miles (48km) away.
This airport started out in 1928 as Angeles Mesa Drive Airport and had half-a-dozen different names before becoming Bob Hope Airport (BUR) in 2003. It was named in honour of the actor/comedian who had died earlier that year and who had kept his private jet at the airport.
Serving the greater Los Angeles area, including Glendale and the San Fernando Valley, the airport is actually closer to famous attractions such as Hollywood and Griffiths Park than Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
As small and personal as the other is big and sprawling, Bob Hope Airport is a great alternative for avoiding the congestion at the giant LAX; and with direct rail connections to downtown Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Diego, nothing could be more convenient. The only catch is that flights to Bob Hope Airport are only available from western US states and New York.
