Although the city is well known as the Colombia’s sports capital, visitors take flights to Cali for much more than just its sports stadiums. Well-preserved historical centres of Cali seize the attention of visitors. In the city centre, Plaza De Caicedo is the focus of tourist activities, while monuments scattered throughout the city tell the tale of Cali’s past. The third most populous city in Colombia has become a tourist heaven thanks to its historical sites, natural beauty and multiple 24-hour entertainment venues.
Of course, Cali isn’t all about historic places. It has much more to offer visitors. People from Cali have created a symphony of fun and peace enriched with Spanish, African and South American culture. As the evening wears on, visitors experience a pleasant surprise in the atmosphere around the city. The sound of music and glittering lights create a new dawn of salsa. Tourists and locals join the floor together and dance until dawn. The great metropolis of Cali hasn’t lost the air of a small town even with its abundance of skyscraper glass towers and concrete buildings. This is a city that has embraced its future without losing the symbols of its rich past.
Many public transport options make it simple to travel around the city. Buses, taxis and vans serve all of Cali. There are about 43,000 public service vehicles available for a ride, meaning visitors never have to look far for transportation. Walking on foot is another option to wander around the city, though buses are considered the safest option to travel around Cali.
Flights to Cali are served by the Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport of Cali (CLO), which is one of the main airports of Colombia. This airport is about 8 miles (13 km) north of the city, surrounded by mountains in the municipality of Palmira. The airport is connected to city by a motorway. The easiest way to travel from the airport into the city is by public bus. Taxis and rental cars are also available on the airport. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the airport to the city.
