Located along the banks of the James River, Lynchburg is a city which was first settled in 1757. Lynchburg and the surrounding area has plenty of historic and cultural locations thanks to their status as one of the first founding settlements of the Thirteen Colonies. There is also a modern metropolitan side to the city, with many restaurants, bars, and shopping streets throughout Lynchburg.

Restaurants serving up Southern cuisine are also readily available, as are bars, clubs, and jazz and bluegrass venues for the more mature visitors.
