When I was going to board, one of the staff members told me that I could not board with my passport bag because it was tree items and I would need to check a bag. This was so stupid ! The bag was small. So I had to put my things in my pockets, put the funny bag inside the other bag. Then go throw it. Then in the plane put everything back again in my funny bag.

Providence is Rhode Island’s tiny capital city that packs a lot of punch. Thanks to Rhode Island’s proximity between Massachusetts and Connecticut, Providence is a quick one-hour drive from Boston or Hartford. Home to Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, Roger Williams University, the famous Rhode Island WaterFire events and one of the best Italian neighbourhoods in New England, Providence packs a lot of activity into a small space.
Flights to Providence arrive at TF Green International Airport, although many travelers might find cheaper Providence flights via Boston’s Logan Airport or Hartford’s Bradley International Airport. Once you’re in Providence however, the options are endless. Take in a Pawtucket Red Sox game (the Boston Red Sox’s minor league division) or catch a concert at the newly renovated Dunkin Donuts Convention Center. If your flight to Providence falls during the summer, enjoy the famous Providence WaterFire displays while dining at one of the many riverfront restaurants.
It’s likely you’ll meet a few budding entrepreneurs and aspiring artists on your Providence flight; the city is home to 12 colleges and universities, keeping the energy youthful and the nightlife buzzing.
Providence’s climate varies based on the seasonal changes, moderated by the Atlantic Ocean. Lows average in the single digits during the winter months and high temps can reach in the 90s during the summertime. Humidity is a major factor in Providence weather so if you’re planning a Providence trip during the summer months, plan accordingly. Thunderstorms are a threat during the summer months and hurricanes can reach the coastal area of Providence during the late spring, early summer times. Winters are very cold and stormy, with plenty of snow and high winds.
It’s easy to drive around Providence and renting a car is certainly an option, especially if part of your Providence trip includes beach time at nearby Newport, Rhode Island. Rent a car when you book your Providence flight and take time to explore the various Providence neighbourhoods, including the Italian district, named “Federal Hill.” There is plenty of parking available on the streets and most restaurants and tourist attractions have onsite parking or valet.
Taxis and buses are plentiful in Providence, and the Amtrak trains come through the city on a daily basis.
T.F. Green Airport is located 10km (6 miles) south of Providence, in Rhode Island, USA. Established in 1931, the airport was named after Theodore Francis Green, Rhode Island’s former governor and senator. It was completely rebuilt in 1996 and in 2011 it handled almost four million passengers.
T.F. Green’s terminal comprises of two levels. Some areas are open to visitors while other areas, including some retail and dining venues, are limited to passengers only. Concessions are not plentiful, but they provide sufficient amusement for those waiting for flights.
T.F. Green Airport is a no-frills airport. Amenities are generally modern and clean, queues short and staff friendly and efficient. It’s difficult to find fault with this charming little airport.
