More than two million passengers passed through Cardiff Airport in 2006, an increase of 13 per cent on the previous year, making it one of the UK’s fastest-growing airports.

This was achieved despite the airport being virtually shut for three days due to heavy fog before Christmas, although it benefited from receiving passengers a few days later who could not land at Bristol Airport, again due to fog.

And airport bosses have set their sights on further growth over the coming year as new flights to Barcelona, Nantes and Kos are added to its network, and increased frequencies on existing services have been announced.
