easyJet Check-in

Online check-in is available from 30 days before the date of departure until two hours before take-off (there’s no fee for this). At the airport, check-in desks close 40 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart. EasyJet recommends checking in two hours before departure.

easyJet baggage allowance

Hand Luggage: The easyJet baggage allowance includes one piece of cabin luggage per passenger (this can be a bag, laptop case, handbag, brief case, bum-bag, rucksack, carrier bag, wedding dress carrier or motorcycle helmet). Cabin luggage must be within the maximum dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25cm, including handles and wheels, but there is no weight limit as long as you can place and remove the bag from the overhead storage without help. Exceed the maximum dimensions and it will cost you £30 at the check-in desk or £45 at the boarding gate to have the bag put into the hold. Infants don’t have a baggage allowance so you will need to carry anything they need in your own hand luggage.

easyJet Plus cardholders, FLEXI fare, Upfront or Extra Legroom customers can bring one extra bag with the maximum dimensions of 45 x 36 x 20cm, such as a handbag or laptop bag, which must be placed under the seat in front.

As well as your cabin bag allowance, you are allowed to take the following items into the cabin, a shawl, umbrella, overcoat, crutches/walking frame/stick and one standard bag of duty free goods from the departure airport.

Checked baggage: easyJet charges for all checked baggage which can be pooled across a party of travellers. The fee for a 20kg bag ranges from £11-£20 when booked online, £30 at the airport check-in desk and £45 at the boarding gate, so be sure to pay for checked baggage in advance to keep costs down.

Excess: There is an excess weight fee of £3 per kg when booked online and £10 per kg at the airport.

For more information visit the easyJet website.

Pre-arranged seating

All Easyjet flights now have allocated seating for free but passengers can choose their seat if they want to have extra leg space or want to seat near exit positions or in the front few rows. The cost varies from £3 to £12 depending on your choice of seat

Passenger change details

Flight times and dates may be changed for a fee of £35 online or £40 by telephone or at the airport, however if you purchase a Flexible Fare, flight-time changes can be made free of charge (one week before to three weeks after the original travel date) subject to availability. Changing the name of the passenger carries a fee of £35 (£40 by phone or at the airport) plus any difference in fares if the fare has increased since the original booking. A name change can be made up to one hour before the flight is scheduled to depart.

Child fares

easyJet doesn’t do child fares – adult fares apply when children are two – and the infant fare is £20 per flight.

Senior fares

easyJet does not offer discounts for older travellers.

Service dogs are not allowed on flights to or from the UK or mainland Europe to or from Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Kosovo, Turkey or Jordan.

Carrying musical instruments

Musical instruments measuring up to 30 x 120 x 38cm can be carried in the cabin. Instruments that exceed those dimensions must be checked in to the hold.

Extra baggage allowance must be purchased for sports equipment such as skis or surfboards. The cost is £25 per flight if purchased online or £30 if purchased at the airport.

Airline overview

Established by Stelios Haji-Ioannou in 1995, easyJet is, with Ryanair, one of the low-cost pioneers. It is based at Luton Airport – in an orange-coloured building of course – and flies more than 600 routes across 30 countries.

About 50 million travellers took easyJet flights in 2012.
