What’s the meaning of travel?

What’s the purpose of visiting new places … encountering different cultures … meeting new people… having snaps in your album to smoast about like this one by thephotographymuse?

For anyone who’s passionate about travel, such questions are inescapable.

The idream itravel initiative aims to capture a snapshot of what travel means today, here in 2013.

 

 

They’re asking people to share their travel dreams – i.e. the reasons why they want to travel and the places they want to visit – via Facebook and Twitter.

Anyone who shares is automatically entered into a pretty cool prize draw. The randomly selected winner gets to visit five different hotels in five different countries over 10 days. Given it’s valued at €2,013 (around £1,700), we reckon the prize is worthy of its “trip of a lifetime” tagline.

The contest closes on February 15, 2013.

Before launching the initiative, the folks behind idream itravel – Hotel.info – went in search of the meaning of travel in London, Rome and Paris. Here’s what they found…
