Queen Elizabeth II started her Diamond Jubilee tour this week. Starting off in Leicester and moving to Manchester later this month, we look at where else in the world Her Majesty has visited.

The Queen has visited 129 countries from Iceland to Indonesia, and travelled more than any other monarch in history.

Australia

The Queen has visited Australia 16 times and has visited every state there. The Queen and Prince Philip are known to have a special affection for the Lucky Country.

Ireland

Queen Elizabeth II made her first visit to Ireland last year, 100 years after the last British monarch. The four-day state visit was a runaway success with the Queen charming all who saw her.

South Africa

The Queen first set foot in South Africa in 1947. She visited again in 1995 and made her first visit to a black township.
