Welcome to the second in our new series of Photo Essays, which will highlight some of the most striking scenery to be found in our current Travel Focus destination.

With this week’s spotlight on Ukraine, Cheapflights has drafted in Oleg Kasko to present the following set of beautiful images. Oleg was born in 1981 in Kharkov, Ukraine. “Photography is my passion, my love, wonderful pastime,” he says. “In my creative work I prefer to use black & white film because of the mood it creates, and the individuality and independence in the full process from pressing the shutter, to printing the photo.”

We’ve included Oleg’s original captions for each of his images, and you can see more of his photography over at 66 Fomat. If you’re a keen photographer and you’d like your images to be featured in a forthcoming Photo Essay post, please get in touch via Twitter or Facebook.

“Zakarpatya and the Carpathian Mountains is one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Ukraine.”

“This photo was taken in the Crimea, in the city of Yalta on the Black Sea.”

“This photo was taken during the autumn walk in the suburb of Kharkov.”
