What is the Burning Man festival all about? It’s art and community and art … and Burners who are dedicated to “radical self-expression and radical self-reliance”. We wrote about it at the end of August and now we’re thrilled to be able to publish on our blog these 12 amazing pictures by Christopher Michel.

The festival takes place each year in the Black Rock Desert, 120 miles north of Reno, Nevada (we have a piece about that state’s quirkiest places too!). There’s a new theme every year and while past themes have included Outer Space, The Floating World, Vault of Heaven and The American Dream, this year’s was Fertility 2.0.

These are just a selection of the images that Christopher has uploaded to Flickr. Have a look at his photostream here.
