Manchester Airport has come over all Italian with the opening of a new restaurant. Trattoria Milano opened near the customs area in Terminal 3 and will offer travellers – and foodies – a wider selection of pre- and post-flight food than was previously available in the terminal.

Manchester Airport’s managing director, Andrew Harrison, said: “Passengers travelling through Terminal 3 tell us that they want a broad range of catering and retail which is why we are investing to improve the departure lounge.

“The opening of the new restaurant represented a milestone in this endeavour and we are pleased to be working with the team behind Trattoria Milano,” he added.

Hungry travellers can take their pick from handmade pizzas, pastas, paninis and salads, plus a range of drinks and puds. Keen cooks can even pick up a selection of recipes from the restaurant to try and recreate at home.

Other food options at the airport include Caffe Nero, Broderick’s, which boasts a “European-style coffee house experience,” Delice De France and Wrapid, which sells “hand-held” world food – wraps stuffed with ethnic cuisine – and worth a visit for the clever name alone.
