The latest pirate blockbuster to hit the screens was premiered last week in London’s Mayfair Hotel.
The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists has an all-star cast, with Hugh Grant leading the way as the voice of the Captain in the animated tale. The 51-year-old actor confessed that he suffers from seasickness and would “hate” to take to the seas in real life.

Caribbean
The Caribbean was once rife with pirates and there are a number of islands and legends which mean that you can visit destinations that may once have been frequented by pirates. The island of Dominica has seen a boost in tourism as it was the film set for much of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. The island’s northeast coast, dramatic cliffs and lush tropical jungle offer the perfect environment for swashbucklers.
Ireland
Female pirates were rare, but Ireland was home to one in the 16th century were Irish. Grace O’Malley is one of the most famous female pirates, known for raiding merchant fleets between Scotland, England and Europe.
Japan
A number of pirates have been known to sail the waters surrounding Japan. The Tsushima Province in particular was a favourite amongst pirates in the 13th century.
