Germany’s second-largest airline, airberlin, is having a three-day sale starting on Tuesday, 8 November. Flights on direct routes from the UK to Germany will be available from £41 one way, including taxes and charges.

Customers will see prices slashed on selected flights from London Gatwick to Nuremberg and London Stansted to Dusseldorf.

Holidaymakers will be able to enjoy the famous German Christmas markets over the festive season, as the travel window is 1 December to 31 March 2012. A child discount is also available on selected fares.

Unlike many other cheap airlines, airberlin offers allocated seating, a 20kg baggage allowance and a complimentary in-flight service.

Dusseldorf is home to one of the most popular markets, which is open from 17 November to 23 December. Nuremberg is another popular destination. Its market is open between 25 November and 24 December. The city also boasts the State Theatre and a 60-hectare zoo.

Last year, the airline carried 33.6 million passengers; it currently flies to more than 160 destinations in 39 countries. airberlin, which has been on Facebook since March 2009, recently reached 50,000 fans.
