Ibiza Airport is the main gateway to two of the Balearic Islands – Ibiza and Formentera. The airport is 7km (4.3 miles) southwest of Ibiza, and although the island is small, its popularity as a summer party destination ensures passenger numbers of around five million passengers each year.

About 85 per cent of the visitors to Ibiza arrive between May and October. If you’re there at the right time (and in the right mood), you can catch some of the world’s best trance, house, and techno deejays performing all through the summer.

Alternatively, you can take one of the many guided tours through the city and surrounds, many parts of which have been declared world heritage sites.

The airport is quite small, with only one terminal building, and getting into town is easy enough using either the buses or taxis. Aside from grabbing a bite to eat, or getting a beer at the bar, there isn’t a whole lot to do at the airport itself.

Getting into Town

Train: There is no train station servicing the airport.

Bus: The Ibiza Airport Bus takes passengers from the airport into the town of Ibiza, where connections to the surrounding areas can be made. The buses leave from outside the arrivals hall every half an hour. The journey takes around 30 minutes, and costs €1.50.

Taxis: The airport is well-serviced by taxis, which can be found directly outside of the Arrivals Hall. A trip into town will cost you around €15, and take about 20 minutes. You could also catch a taxi to San Antonio, San Juan, or San Eulalia for around €25. Taxis for disabled passengers can also be organised through Radio Taxi.

The maximum daily rate is €10.80 for the first four days, and then €8.65 per day.
