Inverness Airport (INV) is the perfect airport for passengers in search of the Loch Ness monster or just a quiet holiday away in the Scottish Highlands. The airport is situated 15km (10 miles) east of Inverness City.

As the gateway to the Highlands, Inverness Airport has a lot to offer passengers in terms of accessibility and ease of travel. It’s small, simple to navigate, and is well connected to public transport in Inverness and the surrounding region.

There are a number of regular flights to Inverness Airport from across the UK and Europe. There are also a number of charter flights offered from Inverness Airport to destinations such as Italy, Sicily and Portugal – perfect for those wishing to get away for a holiday in the sun.

The Highlands offer a range of attractions from breathtaking wilderness areas to a wildlife park and even mountain-climbing and white-water rafting. Inverness City is central to all these activities, which makes Inverness Airport the perfect place to begin or end a holiday in the Scottish Highlands.

Getting into Town

Train: Inverness train station is a short 15-minute drive from the airport, easily accessible by bus or taxi.

Taxis: Highland Taxis can be found outside the arrivals part of the terminal. Taxi fares start at £2.50 for the first 0.7km (826 yards) and go up by £0.10 for every subsequent 0.12km (138 yards). Higher rates apply on public holidays, Sundays and between 10pm and 7am, or if more than four passengers use the same taxi. It costs £10 to £14 to get a taxi from the airport into central Inverness.

Bus: Stagecoach Jet buses depart Inverness Airport for Inverness City every half hour. There are also hourly Stagecoach buses that travel to Forres, Nairn and Elgin. Tickets between the airport and Inverness city centre cost £3.80.

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking is available at Inverness Airport. The short-term car park is right outside the terminal building, whereas the long-stay car park is located to the right of the terminal building. Short-term parking is free for the first 20 minutes then ranges from £2.80 for an hour up to £9.70 for 12 to 24 hours. If you’re planning to leave your car for more than a couple days, head for the long-term car park, which costs £5.40 per day after the first three days.

The information desk is in the main hall of the terminal. It is open daily from 5.30am until 10pm.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: The airport has one ATM and a bank in the main terminal building.

Luggage: Lost property enquiries are handled by the Duty Security Supervisor in the terminal building. Trolleys are available free of charge, but there is no left luggage facility for passengers using Inverness Airport.

Conference and business: Pay-as-you-go Internet terminals are available in the main concourse. Vouchers must be bought at the information desk. In the departures area Internet desks are available in the Highland Lounge, which also has telephone, fax and business desks as well as free Wi-Fi. Conference facilities and catering are also available at Inverness Airport.

Other facilities: The main concourse has a fully equipped parenting room and a first aid facility. The airport also houses a chapel and is fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility. The airport also has a photo booth in the terminal building, perfect for some fun snaps while waiting to check-in for your flight.

Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi operators BT Openzone and Boingo operate hotspots at Inverness Airport. You can start a subscription or purchase one-off vouchers online.
