British Airways has issued some advice to parents on how to make travelling with children a more enjoyable affair.

The airline has prompted parents to pack their children’s favourite item – be it a comfort blanket or toy – to make them feel more comfortable during the flight. The carrier also suggested that a bag of new toys or treats is brought onto the plane in order to keep the youngsters amused in-flight.

Carley Lear, senior first officer at BA – and a mother of two – suggested another form of in-flight entertainment. “Children of all ages are very welcome to come to the flight deck to meet the pilots. The best time is after landing when passengers are disembarking,” she said.

Senior cabin crew member Justin Cox, advised that parents bring a pre-programmed iPod bursting with children’s music, games and films for them to enjoy on the flight.
