People in Manchester will soon be able to fly direct to Jersey after Channel Islands based airline Blue Islands announce plans to fly direct to the island from 31st October.

The daily flights from Manchester Airport are available to book now, with fares starting from £49, including taxes and charges.

“Manchester is a key UK destination for Channel Island passengers who use the airport as a gateway to the North of England, therefore it is important that this route remains to serve the market demand,” said Rob Veron, Managing Director of Blue Islands.

“I look forward to welcoming new passengers living in and around Greater Manchester and hope that they enjoy Blue Islands and our ‘welcome difference’ brand values.”

Founded in 2006, Blue Islands connects the Channel Islands to a number of UK and European destinations including Southampton, Zurich, Geneva, Isle of Man and more recently London City, Bristol and Manchester. The airline does not charge for baggage, offers free ticket changes and, unlike many other airlines, does not charge customers for making payment via debit or credit card.

The flight to Jersey from Manchester Airport takes just over an hour, with a 15 minute connection flight to Guernsey. Passengers travelling on to Guernsey with Blue Islands remain on the plane for a direct connection.

“The Channel Islands are very popular destinations and we know that our passengers will be pleased that these remain part of our network,” commented Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport’s Managing Director on the launch of the new service.
