Brits are willing to take more chances with their holiday plans this year, according to a new survey from Travelsoon.com.

The research found that millions of people have booked a holiday for this Easter, spurred on by the extra Bank Holiday provided by the royal wedding. Of 3,000 people surveyed, 28 per cent said that they were going somewhere they had never been before, suggesting a more open-minded and daring travel approach this year.

Luke Nathan of Travelsoon.com commented, “The news that British travellers are becoming braver in their holiday choices is really very positive, as it shows that consumers are more willing to try something different this year due to the extra time off that they will have.

“What’s also interesting is that the poll said that many travel companies are reporting that bookings to certain holiday destinations, have increased by as much as 180% compared to 2010.”

The study also found that the majority of people search for and book their holiday online in order to get the best deal possible. Whilst just 18 per cent would book their holiday through a travel agent, 55 per cent said they prefer to look for travel deals and discounts on the internet.
