The luxury resort of Ramonos has been named as one of the best hotels in the world in the Conde Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2011.

The resort, in Costa Navarino, Greece, was recognised in the Best Hotels for Leisure Facilities category.

Launched in 2010, The Ramonos Resort is located on the Navarino Dunes. Facilities at the resort include golf courses, swimming pools, indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, and a 4,000sq metre spa.

Water sports are also available for guests, including wind surfing, kayaking, diving and kite surfing. Guests are also encouraged to take part in wine and olive oil making, and traditional Greek cooking.

The Conde Nast Travellers’ Gold List is now in its ninth year, and celebrates the best hotels around the world. The Ramonos Resort was also recognised at the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards earlier this year.

Also celebrated at the Readers’ Awards this year was bmibaby, which won the Best Low-cost Airline at the ceremony.

“Being chosen as the best low-cost airline by the readers of Conde Nast Traveller is truly a great accolade,” said Julian Carr, managing director of bmibaby.

“It is testimony to the continued commitment of the bmibaby team that aims to provide a fun and friendly service for all of our customers.”

Bmibaby, which launched in 2002, operates 39 routes to destinations across Europe from five UK airports, including Manchester, Belfast and East Midlands.

The low-cost airline recently announced plans to launch several new flights in 2012. These include East Midlands Airport to Gibraltar, Corfu, Murcia and Naples and Birmingham Airport to Lisbon, Rome (Fiumicino) and Barcelona.

In addition, a number of its usual summer-only routes will now fly all year round. These include East Midlands to Cologne and Birmingham to Prague.
