Passengers travelling through Edinburgh Airport can now make use of a brand new fast-track check-in facility.

The Common User Self Service (CUSS) check-ins are presently only available to Air France KLM customers, but low-cost carrier Flybe will start using the kiosks later this month.

They allow passengers to check-in simply by scanning their passport barcode or credit card, at which point a boarding pass is printed.

David Lister, Edinburgh Airports customer service director, confirmed that the kiosks are intended for people with hand-luggage only, though the terminal also provides a fast bag drop desks.

He commented: “We expect the self-service option to prove especially popular with frequent flyers and business travellers. The new kiosks enable us to increase the capacity of our check-in hall as further additional flights take-off at Edinburgh.”

Earlier this week, the Scottish gateway also completed the installation of several touch-screen terminals that provide local transport information for passengers.
