Holidaymakers looking to book flights to Cyprus for some autumn sunshine can now benefit from the launch of a new free-to-download Smartphone app.

The new app from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation provides visitors with everything they need to know about visiting the Mediterranean island. And, if you don’t have European roaming in place on your phone, the App can also be used offline as a mini-holiday guide.

Included in the new Visit Cyprus App is an impressive overview of the history and culture of the island as well as practical guidance on how to get about, opening times, language and religion. A reviews section and advice from other travellers is also included.

“We recognise the importance of providing easy-to-use visitor information on smart phones and mobile devices,” said Mr Orestis Rossides, Director of the UK office of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.

“This is our first App and in time we will be looking to develop its functionality and range of information provided, increasing at the same time the speed and ease our visitors can access useful information both in the UK and in Cyprus.”

Cyprus is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean (after Sicily and Sardinia) and attracts more than two million tourists annually.  With one of the best climates in the Mediterranean region, Cyprus is a popular destination for sun lovers during September and October. Popular Cyprus resorts include Larnaca, Paphos, Ayia Napa and the capital Nicosia.

Looking for a good time to visit? The 1 October is Cyprus Independence Day, when locals will be celebrating the 51st anniversary of the end of Cyprus’ war for independence, with street parties, live music and a huge military parade in the capital city of Nicosia.

Anyone thinking of visiting Cyprus can download the App free of charge from: http://m.visitcyprus.com.
