Industrial action today is affecting flights to and from airports in both France and Greece.

A one day national strike is being held in Greece until 10pm today (February 13), halting all flights out of the country, and, as a result, British Airways and easyJet have issued advice for passengers flying into the country during the affected period.

BA has stated that flights both into and out of Athens and Thessaloniki have been cancelled and passengers have been offered the chance to rebook onto an alternative flight, with various options available on the airline’s website www.britishairways.com.

EasyJet has cancelled a number of flights between the UK and Greece and is giving passengers the chance to re-route to their final destination either at the earliest opportunity or at a later date (subject to availability) or alternatively to cancel the affected flight and receive a full refund, with full details available at www.easyjet.co.uk.

In France, air traffic controllers began a five-day strike on Monday (February 11), but the country’s civil aviation authority revealed that the industrial action has not completely halted air travel to and from French airports.

The strike has caused cancellations at Paris Orly airport, with domestic flights being particularly affected, while passengers using Paris Charles de Gaulle have faced delays of up to an hour but no cancellations.

The authority advised anyone using the capital’s airports to contact their airlines directly before travelling for flight information.
