Access to Glasgow Airport has got easier now that the outer forecourt has been re-opened to public transport.

The entire forecourt area was closed to all traffic following Saturday’s attack, making it difficult for passengers to reach the terminal building.

However, the outer part of the forecourt is now open to buses, airport taxis, vehicles operated by Glasgow Taxis, shuttle buses, and emergency vehicles.

Vehicles will be subject to security checks and private cars will not be allowed access to the outer forecourt. All private vehicles should use St Andrew’s Drive, which is a short walk from the main terminal, when dropping passengers off.

When picking passengers up, motorists should use car parks 1 and 3.

New arrangements have also been made for the dropping off and picking up of disabled passengers. An area in car park 2 has been designated for this purpose. Drivers can park and go with the disabled passenger to the customer service desk to get their ticket validated, giving them 30 minutes’ free parking.

At airports around the UK, private cars are not able to drop passengers off at terminal forecourts, instead having to use short-stay car parks. BAA has advised passengers to use public transport if possible.
