Travellers heading over to explore India this year will now be able to book train tickets across the country far more easily.

Indian Railways has launched a new mobile ticketing application for mobile devices, which will allow purchased rail tickets to be sent to a customer via text message.

The new app means that passengers will no longer have to queue for tickets at stations or purchase them through a travel agency, where prices can often be far higher.

Travellers must ensure they carry proof of ID which can be verified against the ticket.

Register on the IRCTC’s Online Passenger Reservation System at www.irctc.co.in to download the free app and start exploring India.
