The UK connections of the oneworld airline alliance network are set to increase in the new airline industry flying season, which begins on October 28.

Oneworld brings together major airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, Japan Airlines and Qantas, and offers their customers benefits such as a broader route network, more opportunities to earn frequent flyer miles and the use of more airport lounges.

A large number of UK airports are already included in the network, but now Stansted Airport will be added to the list. American Airlines will begin flying there from New York JFK on October 28, taking the total number of London airports in the oneworld map to four.

The route will begin as a daily flight and increase to twice daily in April.

Further, British Airways is also set to begin flights from London Gatwick to the Italian city of Genoa from April 4, again expanding the network.

Further afield, two new countries will join the oneworld network in the coming season – namely Cambodia and Nepal.

Hong Kong airline Dragonair, which flies to Phnom Penh in Cambodia (and will begin flying to Kathmandu in Nepal come December), is set to become an affiliate member of the alliance on November 2.
