Holidaying with the family can put a strain on anyone’s budget, but there are some ways to keep the costs down.

Financial comparison site moneysupermarket.com has suggested a number of handy tips for parents looking to save some cash whilst on holiday this year.

Some of the suggestions include selecting the activities and trips you wish to do and booking them online in advance, rather than turning up and paying the – often higher – fee on the door.

Doing some research into different activities and attractions before leaving home can also allow you to track down some great free attractions in the local area, and searching for discount vouchers or codes can also help save money.

Booking self-catering accommodation or making picnics rather than eating out all the time can help families to save big this summer.

Head of shopping and vouchers for the website, Simon James, said, “No matter how parents intend to fund their holidays, consumers will find that a little planning and shopping around can really make a difference.”
