Liverpool John Lennon Airport is looking to link up with a major European airline so that it can boost visitor numbers to the city.

The airport is keen to become a hub for the airline allowing it to offer passengers the chance to fly to destinations around the world, without having to collect baggage and check-in again.

The Liverpool Daily Post says that airport bosses are working closely with tourism and business groups within the city in an attempt to attract one of Europe’s leading airlines to set up a base and draw visitors to the region.

Neil Pakey, the managing director of Peel Airports who own Liverpool John Lennon, said that the possibility of setting up a hub operation at Liverpool was a key part of future growth plans and something that would be pursued.
